A successful two day test at Walters Arena in Wales has boosted Callum Black’s hopes of a strong finish on the opening round of the British Rally Championship, the Rally North Wales, during 6th & 7th April 2013.
The 21 year old from Brackley in Northamptonshire describes the event as one of his favourite gravel rallies in the UK and added, “The Millers Oils DS3 ran really well in testing and, with the help of Martin McCormack and Richard Asquith, my driving improved and the set-up of the car has transformed the handling from last year so I am feeling very positive. We carried out 200km of testing and I think a podium place this weekend is a realistic target.”
The former BRC Challenge Champion and Welsh co-driver James Morgan will be contesting all seven rounds of this year’s championship in the Citroën which is being managed on events by the respected Asquith Autosport team, based in Maidstone, Kent.
They are also hoping to tackle some European and World Championship rounds later in the season as they seek to broaden their rallying experience.
Rally North Wales is based in Welshpool and competitors on the event will tackle a number of the classic rally stages used on the World Championship round, Wales Rally GB. Victory on last year’s event went to another Citroën DS3 in the hands of local driver Tom Cave.
